Beyond the entitlements, a new report detailed how many billions of dollars illegal aliens owed the United States from fines alone.
As part of the open borders agenda, some on the left have disregarded the feasibility of mass deportations over costs and logistics. While such arguments have been readily smacked down, the Department of Homeland Security recently tallied monies owed by illegal aliens for violations at roughly $84 billion.
Passing along the figures to Fox News Digital, a DHS official detailed how over the span of about 18 months since President Donald Trump returned to office, around 103,000 civil fines had been issued totaling the 11-figure sum.
Of those fines, about $1.2 billion had been collected as of July.
Last year, a daily fine of up to $998 “when adjusted for inflation” was applied for violation of removal orders in addition to up to $9,970 for failing to deport and other fines for illegal and attempted entry into the United States. Such fines implemented under Trump’s first term were revoked by the globalist Biden administration.
While Democrats and their allies worked to obstruct, and in some cases even reverse, deportations, arguing upholding national sovereignty was inhumane, infeasible, or any of a number of other excuses in favor of amnesty — and allegedly a broader voter base — the Trump administration utilized multiple approaches to, wherever possible, expedite the departure of noncitizens.
This included the president incentivizing self-deportation with the promise of a free flight home and a stipend to help hit the ground running. What’s more, efforts to do right by the country would also afford illegal aliens forgiveness for fines incurred related to deportation orders. Additionally, those choosing self-deportation have been promised that they can still pursue legal entry into the United States at a future date.
In only the first few months of Trump’s second administration, about 1 million illegal aliens were reported to have self-deported ahead of surges of federal law enforcement officials to cities like Chicago and Minneapolis. According to DHS, that number roughly doubled by the end of the year as about 2.2 million of over 3 million illegal aliens removed from the country in 2025 had self-deported.
Meanwhile, sharing a ruling from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, DHS General Counsel James Percival posted on Tuesday, “Another big win out of the 5th Circuit. DHS’s change in legal position on illegal alien detention restored the policy set by Congress and rejected a misreading of the law that perpetuated open borders for decades. It’s not too late to take a $2,600 check and a free flight home.”

According to Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate, this “extraordinary precedential order [makes] clear that illegal aliens do not have a constitutional right to roam free in the United States during their removal proceedings.”
