Olive Garden comparison leaves Capitol Hill doing a double take

The Republican Party pointed out that using your Olive Garden Never-Ending Pasta Pass required more identification than some states require to vote.

GOP leaders pushing the SAVE America Act to secure elections in the United States drew the comparison, which has recently gone viral on social media. During a Monday hearing, Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-N.C., noted that you have to show photo ID for your pasta pass to be honored at the Italian eatery.

“Heck, you even need to present a photo ID to utilize the Olive Garden Never-Ending Pasta Pass,” she said.

Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., shared the position, saying “you wanna go to Olive Garden? You gotta show a picture ID. This isn’t complicated stuff.”

This comes after Olive Garden confirmed that the reintroduction of its Never-Ending Pasta Pass will come with restrictions.

Look:

“The Never-Ending Pasta Pass is only for use by the Passholder whose name is printed on the Pass. Passes are personalized and non-transferable. Passholders must present a valid photo I.D. along with the Pass at the time of ordering,” they responded when asked if the pass applies to the whole table, or just the person who purchased the pass.

X users quickly seized on this to show that there is no reason to be against showing identification to vote, if you have to do it at a place like Olive Garden:
