Mo Brooks sends actual ‘blanket pardon’ letter to the press to shut down Jan 6 committee’s twisted lie

In what serves as more of an indictment against Democratic politicians and their growing tendency to weaponize the functions of government they control to go after political opponents than an admission of guilt, a letter from U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks shows the Alabama Republican asking then-President Trump for a blanket pardon for GOP lawmakers who voted against certifying the 2020 election.

Such a vote is entirely legal and within the scope of the U.S. Constitution, however, with the U.S. intelligence apparatus — chiefly the FBI — being used to undermine a sitting president, as seen with Trump, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi using the January 6 Select Committee to target political opponents, the Republican lawmakers had every reason to be concerned.

Brooks’ letter was sent to Trump’s assistant Molly Michael, and he expressed concern that Democrats might seek to prosecute GOP lawmakers who voted against certification and signed an amicus brief in support of Texas challenging election results in several key battleground states.

“The email request says it all. There was a concern Democrats would abuse the judicial system by prosecuting and jailing Republicans who acted pursuant to their Constitutional or statutory duties under 3 USC 15…,” CBS News reporter Robert Costa noted in a follow-up tweet, after sharing the letter above.

U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., one of two Pelosi Republicans on the Jan. 6 Select Committee, highlighted Brooks’ Jan. 11, 2021 email to Michael requesting pardons for himself, U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., and the 147 Republican members of Congress “who voted to reject the electoral college vote submissions of Arizona and Pennsylvania.”

“The only reason I know to ask for a pardon is because you think you’ve committed a crime,” the Trump-hating Republican lawmaker opined.

The text of the letter can be seen here:

Dear Mollie:

President Trump asked me to send you this letter. This letter is also pursuant to a request from Matt Gaetz.

It is clear that deep-pocketed and vitriolic Socialist Democrats (with perhaps some liberal Republican help) are going to abuse America’s judicial system by targeting numerous Republicans with sham charges deriving from our recent fight for honest and accurate elections, and speeches related thereto.

As such, I recommend that President give general (all purpose) pardons to the following groups of people:

Every Republican who signed the Amicus brief in the Texas lawsuit against other states deriving from their violation of Article I, Section 4 (and, perhaps, other) provision of the United States Constitution.

Every Congressman and Senator who voted to reject the electoral college vote submissions of Arizona and Pennsylvania.

American simply cannot permit Socialist Democrats to abuse Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Association, United States Constitution and various federal statutes via their often-used strategy of abusing the judicial process via private organizations they fund or the prosecutorial arm they will soon control.

Thank you for your consideration.

Other GOP lawmakers reportedly seeking pardons included U.S. Reps. Scott Perry, R-Penn., Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., and Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga. These elected officials are among the most vocal critics of the Democratic regime in power today and had good reason to be concerned.

Case in point, on Wednesday federal agents raided the home of Jeffrey Clark, a former Trump Justice Department official whom colleagues have testified was a “true believer” that the 2020 election had been stolen — along with tens of millions of other Americans. In an appearance on Fox News, Clark told host Tucker Carlson that he does not “recognize the country anymore with these Stasi-like things happening.”

The Stasi was the highly feared East German institution when the country was under communist rule. Carlson agreed that what’s being seen in America is “Stalinist.”
