DeSantis makes announcement on new ways to fight: ‘We’re not going to let the DOJ be weaponized’

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis sent a strong message to the White House that the Biden administration’s authoritarian overreach will be met with fierce resistance in the Sunshine State.

DeSantis unloaded after Attorney General Merrick Garland, who is the nation’s top law enforcement official, issued an explosive memo unleashing the FBI on parents who show up at school board meetings to speak out against critical race theory as well as the mask mandates demanded by President Joe Biden.

During a press conference last week in Brevard County, DeSantis strongly emphasized that he isn’t going to allow the Justice Department to be “weaponized” against parents who are exercising their First Amendment rights.

On Sunday, the Republican leader who has been a constant thorn in Biden’s side tweeted out a video of his remarks.

“We’re not going to let the federal government come in and impose bad policies or mandates on Floridians. We’re going to make sure we’re protecting parents and students in the state of Florida,” he said.

DeSantis added, “We’re not going to let the Department of Justice be weaponized to infringe First Amendment rights of parents. We’re going to fight to preserve the rights of parents, and as we continue to see the use of fear and intimidation to suppress opposition to the regime, we’re going to find new ways to be able to empower parents’ rights to decide what is best for their children.”

Garland’s memo was issued following a letter to Biden from the National School Boards Association (NSBA) urging him to treat concerned parents in a manner consistent with domestic extremists and even suggested the use of the PATRIOT Act against them.

DeSantis blasted Garland’s memo in a tweet sent out earlier this month.

Other Florida officials have also called out the extremism of the Biden regime.

“The White House’s attempt to silence and intimidate parents who are outspoken about critical race theory indoctrinating our children is simply un-American,” Lt. Governor Jeanette Nuñez said. “Governor DeSantis and I will continue to stand up for the rights and liberties of Floridians and push back against Biden’s egregious federal overreach.”

“The Biden Administration’s attempt to trample all over the First Amendment rights of concerned parents and create a chilling effect on free speech is un-American,” said Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran.

DeSantis also extended a big middle finger to Biden by tweeting out a variation of the famous Gadsden flag only with an alligator replacing the traditional snake with the message of “DON’T TREAD ON FLORIDA,” something that likely did not sit well with the dictator in the White House.

He also called for a special session of the state legislature to address Biden’s coming order to use the “public-private partnership” to force Americans to be jabbed or lose their jobs.

DeSantis continues to be recognized by many as the best governor in America and could be a formidable opponent to Biden-Harris if former President Donald J. Trump chooses not to run again in 2024.
