Armed man who was arrested at ‘Justice For Jan 6’ rally confirmed a federal agent

It has now been acknowledged that the man who was arrested for carrying a gun at Saturday’s #Justice4J6 rally in Washington D.C. was indeed a federal law enforcement officer and he won’t face charges for his offense.

That news confirms the suspicions of many who noticed that during the encounter with ridiculously militarized Capitol Police officers that the man wasn’t a protester, a detail that was obvious when a reporter’s video of the encounter revealed that he was carrying a badge at the time of the arrest.

According to a report by the Associated Press, the individual, “a 27-year-old New Jersey man is an officer with U.S. Customs and Border Protection,” and he will not be prosecuted.

AP cites two anonymous “law enforcement officials” who said that “the officer was not at the rally in any official capacity,” and that the individuals “declined to discuss the matter publicly and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.”

When it comes to media buildup, the #JusticeForJan6 event completely failed to live up to the hype about another “insurrection” that led to protective fencing being erected around the U.S. Capitol building and the turnout of Nancy Pelosi’s finest in their full-body armor, leaving the pundits with egg dripping from their faces when few actual protestors showed up.

Despite the dramatic measures to fend off the expected army of “insurrectionists” there were only a handful of arrests, most notably the unnamed federal agent from New Jersey.

The confirmation that the armed man was a federal agent was met by a predictable reaction on Twitter.

Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Glenn Greenwald weighed in, writing “The FBI is the leader/creator of the ‘far-right domestic extremists’ used to justify greater surveillance powers, federal law enforcement budgets, and scary cable news and Congressional narratives.”

“Remember its ‘kidnap Gov Whitmer plot.’ If you need a villain, FBI creates it,” he said, referring to the bureau’s extensive use of paid informants and undercover agents to advance the alleged scheme to kidnap and murder Michigan’s Democrat governor.

In another tweet, Greenwald added, “Was there anyone at that big scary MAGA rally who wasn’t a federal agent or a journalist? Like maybe 11 people?” A likely reference to the weekend’s most hilarious picture from the event, one that has been a gold mine for meme makers.

Others on Twitter also chimed in.

It’s hard to tell who the bigger loser was over the weekend, the media or the federal government, both of which have bottomed out when it comes to credibility.
