As President Joe Biden announced a federal vaccine mandate Thursday, he also took time to deliver an angry rant and threat aimed at the Republican governors who’ve had the guts to stand up on behalf of parents and against controlling school officials.
The angry rant and threat drew contrasts to the meek, subservient way in which both he and his administration at large speak to or about America’s enemies, including the Taliban and increasingly authoritarian Chinese ruler Xi Jinping.
“To all school officials trying to do the right thing by our children, I’ll always be on your side. Let me be blunt. My plan also takes on elected officials and states that are undermining you and these lifesaving actions,” the president said.
“Right now, local school officials are trying to keep children safe in a pandemic while their governor picks a fight with them and even threatens their salaries or their jobs. Talk about bullying in schools. If they’ll not help — if these governors won’t help us beat the pandemic, I’ll use my power as president to get them out of the way,” he added.

To be clear, the picture he painted of vengeful governors going to war with school officials because they don’t care about “trying to keep children safe” is false.
Republican governors like Ron DeSantis of Florida have pushed back on those school officials who’ve sought to force all children to mask up in schools.
The governor has offered this pushback because of parents who’ve said they don’t want their children wearing masks in school. Their demands mirror the consensus of both the World Health Organization and the majority of European nations.
The false framing aside, what drew critics’ attention was the animosity in the president’s words. It seemed he had a chip on his shoulder that was desperate to brush off.
Yet when he spoke with Xi Jinping later that evening, he seemed as pleasant and cordial as a kitten, despite the Chinese ruler’s cruel record on human rights, not to mention what many see as his culpability in the global coronavirus pandemic.
This president gives more leeway to the Taliban and to a communist ethno state with concentration camps and who caused a global pandemic than he does Americans in Florida or Missouri. Maybe that has an effect in vaccination rates, https://t.co/l7G6MiRDnO

There was some irony to his meek behavior.
The president’s recent actions — both his vaccine mandate that critics have described as unconstitutional, authoritarian and perhaps even “tyrannical,” as well as his defiance of the U.S. Supreme Court — eerily mirror the authoritarian impulses of his Chinese counterpart.
As noted by firebrand Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert in the tweet below, it’s almost like he views Xi as a “role model.”
Now we know why Joe Biden is so buddy-buddy with Xi Jinping.
That’s his role model.

After a long day of acting like a Maoist dictator it’s nice that @POTUS took the time to get his performance graded by one. https://t.co/HhjdOY5ztt

The Biden administration as a whole has been equally subservient to the Taliban, bending over backwards at every turn to appease the terrorist group’s demands.
Meanwhile, they treat unvaccinated Americans like trash, as noted again by Boebert:
Backwards Biden was more aggressive toward unvaccinated Americans today than he has been with the Taliban.
You know, the terrorists he has been taking orders from and his regime called “businesslike and professional.”
God, I want a real President again.

There is one chief difference, though. Over here in the United States of America, pushback isn’t a crime punishable by potential death.
And so, despite Biden’s trash-talking and threats, pushback is mounting at lightening-fast speed, with GOP governors leading the charge.
“This is not a power that is delegated to the federal government. This is a power for states to decide,” South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem said during an appearance late Thursday on Fox News’ “Hannity.”
“In South Dakota, we’re going to be free and we’re going to make sure that we don’t overstep our authority. So we will take action. My legal team is already working, and we will defend and protect our people from this unlawful mandate,” she added.
Listen:
Speaking on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves and Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts vowed the same.
Watch:
Meanwhile on Twitter, GOP governors and congressional Republicans are all promising full-scale, scorched-earth political warfare over the president’s authoritarian mandate.
Look:
“Many small businesses and workers do not have the money or legal resources to fight Biden’s unconstitutional actions and authoritarian decrees, but when his decree goes into effect, the RNC will sue the administration to protect Americans and their liberties.”—@GOPChairwoman pic.twitter.com/34HA65LL23

Biden’s vaccine mandate is an assault on private businesses.
I issued an Executive Order protecting Texans’ right to choose whether they get the COVID vaccine & added it to the special session agenda.
Texas is already working to halt this power grab.https://t.co/TwoQMhDxoM

South Dakota will stand up to defend freedom. @JoeBiden see you in court.
— Governor Kristi Noem (@govkristinoem) September 9, 2021
I will pursue every legal option available to the state of Georgia to stop this blatantly unlawful overreach by the Biden administration.
— Governor Brian P. Kemp (@GovKemp) September 9, 2021
President Biden has made small business an enemy of his administration. Forcing main street to vax or pay a fine will not only crush an economy he’s put on life support—it’s flat-out un-American.
To Joe Biden, force is more important than freedom. Americans won’t stand for it.
— Kevin McCarthy (@GOPLeader) September 9, 2021
Some of the fiercest pushback came from South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster.
“The American Dream has turned into a nightmare under President Biden and the radical Democrats. They have declared war against capitalism, thumbed their noses at the Constitution, and empowered our enemies abroad,” he tweeted.
“Rest assured, we will fight them to the gates of hell to protect the liberty and livelihood of every South Carolinian,” the governor added.

If political warfare was what the president was looking for, then congratulations are in order, because it appears he’s about to face the largest political war of his career.
