The nearly all-black (save for a “token” white guy), “woke” U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team reportedly got demolished 76-83 by France at the Tokyo Olympics, triggering mockery from people fed up with the players’ “social justice” obsession.

“The Americans led Team France by seven with under four minutes remaining, but the French scored the next 14 points for a shocking 83-76 victory Sunday at Saitama Super Arena,” the New York Post reported.

“Nets star Kevin Durant was in early foul trouble and had 10 points on 4-for-12 shooting in 21 minutes before fouling out in the closing seconds. Jrue Holiday net a team-high 18 and Bam Adebayo added 12 in a rocky start for the three-time defending gold medalists,” the newspaper reported.

It was the team’s first loss since 2004.

The Americans are the ones in blue:

The French were sympathetic to the losers.

“They had a good run, but we just stuck with our game plan. Second, you have to be honest and look at their roster, they have guys who are pretty tired from playing in the NBA Finals,” French team member Evan Fournier reportedly said.

“We know they aren’t at full strength yet, but it was a good win regardless for us. It’s a hell of a win, and our country is going to be extremely proud,” he added.

The U.S. public was less sympathetic because of the players’ embrace of “woke” nonsense, from team member JaVale McGee kneeling for the anthem to player Kevin Durant calling Fox News host Laura Ingraham “racist” for criticizing LeBron James’ demonstrable political ignorance.

Look:

The latter Twitter user hit the nail on the head. Contemporary U.S. men’s basketball is more about politics — left-wing politics, to be exact — than basketball.

There’s a reason Ingraham told James and other outspoken NBA players to “shut up and dribble” in 2018 — because their job is to play basketball well, not opine on political matters way beyond their pay grade (and reading comprehension).

And their job’s certainly to be be social justice warriors. Yet they managed to convince the NBA last summer to allow them to redesign their jerseys to replace their last names with social justice messages.

Their embrace of “woke” has coincided with a collapse in NBA ratings. Last year ratings for the NBA Finals dropped to their lowest in history.

Look:

Other sports that have gone woke — football, most notably — have also experienced declines in ratings and therefore revenue.

In fact, it’s a multiple-industry phenomenon that’s affected every company that’s chosen to go down the route of social justice — from media organizations like CNN to personal care brands like Gillette.
