Unvaccinated West Point cadets treated like inferiors, allegedly called ‘dirty,’ fear severe retaliation

Unvaccinated cadets at West Point Military Academy are reportedly facing unprecedented retaliation for not being inoculated. They claim they are being treated as outcasts and are being referred to as “dirty” and “diseased.”

The majority of cadets have already been vaccinated at the military institution. Those who haven’t been vaccinated, or have already had the coronavirus and therefore have natural immunity, are facing extreme pressure from other cadets and their instructors, as well as punitive measures, Fox News reported. Out of 4,500 cadets, there are approximately three dozen in this category.

Unvaccinated cadets face stricter quarantines and other severe restrictions that are even more suppressive than at the height of the pandemic. Those restrictions reportedly include a seven-day quarantine for unvaccinated cadets prior to summer training. It shortens their time off by a full week.

“It’s like solitary confinement – for a disease we don’t have,” claimed one anonymous cadet who fears retribution for speaking up. Pressure to get vaccinated began in January even though the academy does not have a vaccine mandate.

Documents reveal that unvaccinated cadets were cited with Negative Cadet Observation Reports, or NCORs, for violating mask and social distancing protocols.

Vaccinated cadets have purportedly been told not to interact with unvaccinated friends at the academy. A spreadsheet has been circulating on campus that lists by name which cadets are vaccinated and unvaccinated. The school is claiming the list was “inadvertently disseminated” and officials are reportedly investigating the matter. The harassment has allegedly been going on for some time at West Point.

Elita Perusek’s son is in his final year at the academy and she is a graduate as well. She told Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity on Thursday that her son declined the vaccine but has tested positive for coronavirus antibodies.

“He was counseled before he left West Point by his tactical office who told him that because he chose to exercise his right to not take the vaccine that he would be called ‘susceptible status’… and that he would have to submit to restriction of movement throughout the summer,” she reported. “Which meant that he would have to give up some of his leave.”

Previously, under the old restrictions, cadets who returned from break could go to the mess halls and engage in activities. Now, they have to stay in their room 23 hours a day, and “nobody in the chain of command” is allowed to visit them.

The new, more restrictive guidelines state that unvaccinated cadets should wear a mask in the barracks and shared spaces, including bathrooms and showers. They don’t have to wear them while “performing personal hygiene.” Unbelievably, the policy also mandates that cadets wear a mask while swimming unless social distancing is maintained. The only other time that masks are not required is during physical training.

Despite the inordinate pressure, the U.S, Military Academy’s Public Affairs Office claims that vaccines are encouraged, but are not mandatory.

“Though they train together and are fully integrated in all activities, unvaccinated cadets are currently being housed separately from vaccinated cadets to minimize transmission risk and are provided with equal or better living conditions,” a spokesman stated. “The academy’s risk mitigation plan for summer military training was developed under the guidance of medical advisors, experience from last year’s academy summer training experiences, and is aligned with the measures used in other military training exercises across the Army.”

Mathias Sampson, who is a 20-year Army vet, told Hannity that his daughter at West Point did not get the vaccine because she was concerned about the long-term effects on her fertility. She is still being pressured to get the vaccine even though she has already had COVID.

“It’s certainly not about the science anymore,” Sampson remarked. “As her father, I’m very worried for her, but more importantly, and why I’m on the show tonight, is that as an American I’m deeply concerned about what’s going on in the military academies right now.”

The academy also took exception to reports that the school’s COVID coordinator, Col. Laura Dawson, had allegedly attempted to coerce cadets into getting vaccinated: “Currently, the Department of Defense is not mandating vaccines for US military members, and it remains optional but encouraged for West Point personnel,” the school proclaimed in a statement.

“Any harassment, abuse, threats, or punitive measures targeting unvaccinated personnel is antithetical to West Point policy, ideals, and Army values,” the statement added. “West Point takes every report of inappropriate behavior very seriously and takes immediate actions to address such reports in a timely manner.”
