Dutiful press told to stand down, report Biden’s broken foot 24 hrs after slip, Trump sends wishes

Joe Biden reportedly broke his foot over the weekend while playing with his dog, prompting President Trump to send the Democratic presidential nominee a get well message.

And while there’s no truth to rumors that the adoring media was in need of smelling salts to handle the bad news, they were apparently kept in the dark in response to the treatment of the injury — or should we say, they were kept in the press vans.

Biden’s doctor initially said the 78-year-old former vice president “sustained a sprain of his right foot” and that there was “no obvious fracture,” but a follow-up CT scan did find hairline fractures in the mid-foot.

Responding to a video of Biden leaving the Delaware Orthopaedic Specialists facility where he was treated, the president tweeted: “Get well soon!”

“Initial x-rays are reassuring that there is no obvious fracture and he will be getting an additional CT for more detailed imaging,” Dr. Kevin O’Connor said in a statement. “Follow-up CT scan confirmed hairline (small) fractures of President-elect Biden’s lateral and intermediate cuneiform bones, which are in the mid-foot. It is anticipated that he will likely require a walking boot for several weeks.”

The Biden press was not allowed to get out of their vans to record him walking in and out of the Newark, Del., orthopedic facility “despite multiple requests,” according to the Daily Mail.

The assigned pool seemed to be fairly docile about the decision, which is inconsistent with the rabid reporting about a lack of transparency from the White House when the president contracted COVID-19.

There was a similar reaction over what was billed as a “seemingly unplanned” visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center back in 2019.

Biden, who was visibly limping when he left the doctor’s office without a crutch or other aid, came out the loser in a game of tug-of-war with his dog Major, one of two dogs the Bidens have, and was taken to see a doctor out of an abundance of caution, the Daily Mail reported.

Major is one of two German shepherds they have and was recently celebrated in the media for being the first rescue dog to live in the White House.

In a statement issued by a Biden spokesperson, the candidate was treated on Sunday to “avoid disrupting regularly scheduled appointments on Monday.”

Jim Geraghty, the senior political correspondent for National Review, highlighted in a tweet that the injury occurred on Saturday, but was not reported until Sunday.

“You don’t have to buy into any ‘Biden is in ill health’ rumors to be at least a little irked that the president-elect injured himself and the public was not notified for 24 hours,” he tweeted.

In another tweet, he called out the media’s double standard when it comes to Trump:
