Pelosi, Schumer react to Trump’s executive order; a move Obama perfected, Justice Roberts approved

Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer attacked President Trump for bypassing their endless obstructionism to sign four executive orders that will quickly get coronavirus relief aid into the hands of millions of struggling Americans.

Trump’s executive orders will help Americans by:

  • Extending unemployment benefits.
  • Deferring payroll taxes.
  • Suspending student loan payments.
  • Suspending evictions from federally-insured single-family mortgages.

In signing the EOs, the President said he can no longer wait around for Democrats to negotiate in good faith because financially-strapped Americans need help now.

For months, Democrats have hijacked the coronavirus relief negotiations to blackmail the federal government into giving aid to illegal immigrants and convicted criminals.

In contrast, the President has focused on getting aid directly to struggling Americans.

Trump said: “My Administration—recognizing the acute financial distress affecting families across the country—has worked to quickly provide billions of dollars in relief to supplement unemployment benefits and help businesses keep their workers employed, in addition to zeroing federal student loan interest and delaying Tax Day.”

President Trump said he had to sign the executive orders because Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are shamelessly exploiting the coronavirus-relief negotiations to advocate for:

“What does this have to do with stimulus for the economy?” Trump asked.

Predictably, Pelosi and Schumer blasted President Trump for acting quickly to get help to Americans.

In a statement, Pelosi and Schumer laughably claimed that Trump “still does not comprehend the seriousness or the urgency of the health and economic crises facing working families.”

Schumer and Pelosi then asked Republicans to come back to the negotiating table, so Democrats can posture nonstop to help illegal aliens and convicted criminals while ignoring the immediate needs of taxpaying Americans.

Naturally, leftists were up in arms, howling that “Trump can’t do that!”

Fact check: Yes, he can. Just ask Barack Obama.

In 2014, Obama was hailed as a left-wing hero for bypassing a Congressional stalemate and signing executive orders. At the time Obama proclaimed:

“We’re not just going to be waiting for legislation in order to make sure that we’re providing Americans the kind of help they need.

I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone. And I can use that pen to sign executive orders and take executive actions that move the ball forward.”

The U.S. Supreme Court recently upheld Obama’s most controversial executive order — DACA —even though numerous legal experts say it is unconstitutional and illegal.

Richard Grenell, the former acting Director of National Intelligence, remarked that as usual, Trump did something to help Americans instead of paying hollow lip service.

“While the Washington politicians and the media bicker, Donald Trump just took action and lowered Americans’ taxes, extended unemployment benefits, protected Americans from eviction and gave student loan repayment relief.”

Donald Trump Jr. tweeted: “While Democrats obstruct and tear sh*t down, Donald Trump acts and never lets YOU down! Now Chuck and Nancy might sue to stop you from getting relief? Have at it, losers!”

  • Payroll tax holiday
  • Student loan relief
  • Moratorium on evictions
  • $400/week in unemployment benefits.

Filmmaker Mike Cernovich, an attorney, said Democrats are playing right into Trump’s hands with their knee-jerk outrage.

Cernovich opined that Democrats will probably sue to block the executive orders (as usual). And that will backfire on them.

“Trump will get sued and that will help him. These EO’s are highly popular. That’s a ‘hill to die on’ for Trump.”

Cernovich also suggested that Trump’s crafty maneuvering makes him look strong and proactive, compared to the flailing Democrats, who look weak and indecisive with their nonstop tantrums.

“Congress doesn’t want to govern. Trump can lose in court on these EOs. That doesn’t matter. When he governs and gets hit by court, looks heroic. The fight is what counts.”

Second-Amendment advocate JT Lewis tweeted: “So you’re telling me that Obama was allowed to help illegal aliens via Executive Order (DACA) But Trump isn’t allowed to help AMERICANS via Executive Order?!?!”

Two weeks ago, even CNN’s anti-Trump host Brianna Keilar accused Nancy Pelosi of causing the stalemate by rejecting a coronavirus relief proposal from the White House.

An enraged Pelosi denied that she had rejected the proposal (even though she did).

Keilar then suggested that Democrats appear to have other priorities—besides helping Americans—with their laundry list of unreasonable demands.
