Cali educator warns unions big part of pushing ‘far-left’ agenda, right under many teachers’ noses

A California teacher is warning about the “political agenda” being pursued by unions in concert with far-left groups to shape the minds of children in classrooms.

An educator with 28 years experience and author of “Standing up to Goliath,” Rebecca Friedrichs, told “Fox & Friends” Tuesday about a landmark case last year that has given teachers the ability to opt out of funding the left-leaning teachers unions.

The Janus v. American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees case, with a 5-4 decision in June 2018, ended a more than four-decade long rule requiring public employees to pay union dues to the organizations representing them.

“What’s shocking is teachers have no idea,” the pro-life Christian educator, who sued California’s teachers’ association, said.

“People think teachers are these far-left people pushing this stuff. That is a lie,” Friedrichs said. “Most teachers are good, loving people.”

“But we are being used by very powerful organizations.  Teachers unions collect about $5 billion tax-free every year from teachers – and they use that money to put their social, sexual, and political agenda into our schools,” she explained, noting how she was forced to fund the California Teachers’ Association (CTA) and the National Education Association (NEA) for nearly 30 years.

“Now all teachers across the country – in fact, all government employees – are now free to pay unions nothing,” Friedrichs said.

She noted that although educators are “still unionized” and “still forced to accept their representation,” they are not required to fund their activities anymore, a fact that she wants more people to be aware of.

“They’re still bullying us and steamrollering us, but we don’t have to pay them any longer and I hope and pray that teachers will stand together and stop paying them, and I’m hoping we can eventually get them out of our schools,” she told “Fox & Friends.”

In an op-ed for Fox News, Friedrichs explained that “thanks to a lawsuit (Friedrichs v. CTA) brought by 10 California teachers and CEAI, and another suit brought by an Illinois government employee named Mark Janus, we’ve convinced the U.S. Supreme Court that forced union dues are unconstitutional. You can now opt out and pay unions nothing.”

“My whole agenda in life right now is to get out and educate teachers on the truth so that they can have liberty,” Friedrichs said Tuesday, “so they can choose for themselves what they want to do.”

She accused the teachers unions of being “very deceptive,” contending that they “outright lie” to public school teachers.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson, in a segment on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” warned that if leftists aren’t checked on the misinformation being spewed about the nation’s history, children will be taught a decidedly different version of events in their classrooms.

“I swear, in 20 years, every fifth-grader will believe 9/11 was committed by a white supremacist,” he said.

Friedrichs, meanwhile, warned other pro-life teachers in her opinion piece that their union dues are essentially funding abortions, among other left-wing agenda items.

She wrote:

Years ago, as a California teacher, I was shocked to learn that state and national teachers’ unions collude with Planned Parenthood. They use teacher dues money and resources — behind our backs and against our wills — to bring the abortion industry into our schools. Many of our nation’s public schools require teachers to instruct children as young as 12 on how and where to obtain birth control — including the morning-after pill and abortions — without parental knowledge or permission. If teachers refuse to teach this, the law mandates “experts” like Planned Parenthood take over the classroom.

Friedrichs revealed how, during those years, she “personally witnessed their zealous devotion to abortion and the far-left sexual agenda.”

“They even helped lead The Women’s March,” she added, noting how the unions also work with far-left groups such as the ACLU, Southern Poverty Law Center, GLSEN (Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network) and  SIECUS “to push a radical sexual agenda onto our kids and to punish teachers, parents and students who dare to speak out against it.”

Friedrichs concluded by reiterating that the groups will lie to educators to instill fear about their decision to stop funding the unions.

“They’ll tell you you’ll lose your pay, pension and liability insurance if you reject them,” she wrote. “They’re lying to you, just like they did about their support of abortion.”
